Nutri-Score was developed to simplify consumer choices for a more balanced diet.
The role of Nutri-Score is to indicate the nutritional value of food, correlated with the frequency of consumption, and not to exclude certain products.
Products marked in green (A, B) are important products in our diet, which we should consume more often or in larger quantities. Products marked with yellow (C) should be consumed in moderation. Products marked with red (D, E) should be consumed in smaller quantities or occasionally, as they contain a higher amount of saturated fats, sugar, salt, which should be limited in the daily diet.
All of us have read at least once the nutritional information written on the labels. As a manufacturer we have a legal obligation to include on the packaging information regarding the composition of products in a clear and accessible way for our consumers, but is a simple nutritional table enough? and the fact that it is on the label means that everyone reads it?
We decided we could do more than that and introduced NUTRISCORE for our products.
There are bad nutrients (salt, sugar, saturated fatty acids), but also good nutrients (fiber, protein, percentage of fruits / vegetables) and each of them receives a score. When subtracting the positive points from the negative ones the result is converted into Nutriscore table that can be found on the front of the package. That way you will know at a glance if the product is suitable for your diet or not.
